Eminem: Incorporating Life Into His Music

The master of rap, Eminem, found his way into music at the young age of 14 years old. Eminem develops his music through the use of his life’s stories. Many of his stories include his mother, his ex-wife, and his daughter. Eminem’s real name is Marshall Bruce Mathers II (but most often goes by the name Eminem in the music business). Through his music, Eminem creates for himself three separate personalities: Marshall, Eminem, and Slim Shady. In 1999, Eminem broke out onto the music scene with his cutting edge album (The Slim Shady LP). Many things inspired Eminem’s raps including other rap songs, and early childhood. Through pain and complications growing up, Eminem became one of the most beloved rappers of all time. Eminem’s song ‘Kim’ was a violent song about his ex-wife. Eminem took on the personality Slim Shady when singing this song, and insists that Kim not hurt him anymore. Through struggles with his mother’s drug abuse, Marshall commonly places his mother in the negative light throughout his raps. Although his anger is displayed in his songs, he also writes songs on a more positive note. His music about his daughter is intense. It expresses how much he would like to give her what he didn’t have, as well as be there for her every need. Finding himself in the midst of a musical phenomenon, Marshall often took a goofy side to many of his raps. In order to appeal to his fans, all Marshall had to do was be himself. He was found to be one of the most raw rappers; displaying his feelings and true life stories. Fans of Marshall Mathers have stuck with everything that has ever went on in Eminem’s musical career. Eminem, the legend of rap, often incorporated his life into his musical career.
