Who Is The Real Slim Shady

In 1999, Marshall Bruce Mathers III, commonly known as Eminem or his alter ego, Slim Shady, released his major-label debut The Slim Shady LP. In 2000, he followed it up with the Marshall Mathers LP, and its first single, “The Real Slim Shady,’ which begged the question of just who was the real Slim Shady.
Despite the flamboyant style of Eminem lyricism, frequent biting insults and a propensity to imaginary violence, Mathers seems strikingly parallel to the Average Joe. At least on the surface. Raised by a single parent in a troubled home that shifted frequently between Missouri and Detroit, he grew up bullied and with below average grades. He married and divorced his high school sweetheart, twice, and has a daughter with her, in addition to two other adopted children. He-s had a few episodes with the law, but none that brush in comparison to his highly stylized fictional/lyrical life. Still, Eminem, or Slim Shady, remains a controversial figure who finds no topic off limits for parody or scrutiny. Through his music, he-s created a number of rivalries between himself and other stars, been accused of encouraging hate crimes and domestic violence, and remains a polarizing yet chart-topping individual.
